SpiceJet plans expansion of fleet, starts new flights
Jammu, Oct 12 (UNI) Low-cost carrier SpiceJet has planned to expand its fleet, besides starting some new flights to widen its operational network in the country, sources said here today.
The airliner, which has seven aircraft in operation, plans to expand its fleet base up to 23 aircraft by the middle of 2008, sources told UNI.
''We will purchase 10 aircraft in 2007, as we have planned to have a fleet of 23 aircraft by the middle of 2008,'' sources in the company said, adding that the company would start operations from October 25 with eight aircraft.
However, to expand its network in the country, the company is launching three new flight between Ahmadabad-Kolkata, Ahmadabad-Goa and Ahmadabad-Chennai from October 25, besides daily fights between New Delhi to Srinagar (via Jammu) from October 29, sources informed.
SpiceJet is starting air service between Delhi-Jaipur from December 2 this year.
It will also add one more flight between Goa-Mumbai.
SpiceJet operates with a single aircraft type fleet of new generation Boeing 737-800s to support its low-cost structure.
