Sant Gajanan college bags Cadence Design Contest
Bangalore, Oct 12 (UNI) Maharashtra based Sant Gajanan Maharaj College of Engineering students won the Cadence India Design Contest which was announced at CDNLive User Conference here today.
The digital design devised by the students can be transferred and used as real time analog model.
The winning team presented their design during the Conference.
The Shegaon-based College bagged the award despite a stiff competition from undergraduate and graduate students from over 100 institutions which included top 10 institutions like IIT Chennai, IIT Delhi, NIT Warangal IISc and Jadavpur University.
The contest was aimed at fostering the spirit of inventiveness and realisation of ideas among the engineering student community in India. Cadence was the first company to organise such a design contest of this nature in the country, Jaswinder Ahuja, Managing Director, Cadence Design Systems(I) Ltd said.
The shortage of design-aware manpower was a challenge that the semiconductor industry faced today. Cadence India focused on a wide range of manpower-development initiatives including the Government of India's Special Manpower Development Project, he added.
