Restore the pride of farming: Nagaland Governor
Kohima, Oct 12 (UNI) Highlighting Nagaland's huge agricultural potential, governor Shyamal Datta has urged the agriculturists to exploit the abundant natural fertility to generate more income.
Mr Datta at a seminar on 'Problems and prospects of Agricultural in NE' at Dimapur district yesterday stressed on the state's huge agricultural potential.
He said production was not only for self-consumption but also for generating income.
He lamented that the state's agriculture sector is 'far from self sufficient' and asked the farmers to increase their production.
He said the farmers should change their mindset of depending upon the agencies for survival and strive for self-reliance.
The Northeastern Region had immemse potential in feeding the entire nation with some of the best fruits and agricultural products, but is not able to market the products, a proffessor from New Delhi said.
