Pamuk says honoured to win literature Nobel-paper

STOCKHOLM, Oct 12 (Reuters) Turkish novelist Orhan Pamuk, winner of the 2006 Nobel prize for literature, told a newspaper today he was ''honoured'' to win the award.

''I am very glad and honoured. I am very pleased,'' the Turkish writer told Sweden's Svenska Dagbladet newspaper when asked how he felt about winning the 10 million Swedish crown (1.36 million dollars) prize. ''I will try to recover from this shock.'' Asked if he would be at the December awards ceremony, Pamuk said: ''Of course I will come to Stockholm, it will be exciting.'' Last year's winner, playwright Harold Pinter, and the 2004 literature laureate, Elfriede Jelinek, did not attend the awards in person.
