Nokia India to roll out N95 early next year
New Delhi, Oct 12: In a bid to drive the mobile digital convergence, Nokia India today announced it will roll out the Nokia N95 mobile early next year in the country and expects to sell million units of N-series mobiles in India by 2006 end.
Nokia also launched its special music and internet range multimedia devices including N70 music edition with 1MB memory, N73 with 2MB memory, N91 with 8GB memory and the N80 internet edition with embedded internet.
''Last year we sold 60 million units of N-series mobiles globally, and we expect to touch this figure at 80 million units by this year end,'' Nokia India Director Multimedia Vineet Taneja told reporters here.
A total of 44 per cent consumers owns a primary camera in their cell phones, while 36 per cent loves to browse internet over it.
While, 67 per cent consumers are having MP3 players in their mobile which suggests that multiplicity in a single device is the need of the hour, Mr Taneja added.
''A move to 3G is neccessary for the telecom industry to flourish as it will pave way to mobile filmmaking and other excellent features to work on.
Nokia N-series will strengthen its retail strategy by setting up 20 exclusive 'N Series experience zones' by 2007. In addition, these zones will be established in over 600 outlets across the country.
The Nokia N95, a converged device comes with a integrated GPS functionality, a 5 mega pixel camera and 3.5 G high speed packet data ccess. The wireless LAN allows users to access the internet seamlessly.
