MIAL unveils blueprint for transformation of CST intl airport
Mumbai, Oct 12 (UNI) Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL), the joint venture between GVK-SA consortium and Airports Authority of India (AAI) today unveiled the master plan for Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA).
The MIAl also showed how the investment of Rs 5,200 crore, to be made in five years, would be utilised, including construction of Air Traffic Control would be done by 2010.
Talking to reporters, while unveiling the blueprint, MIAL Chairman G V Krishna Reddy and Managing Director G V Sanjay Reddy said, ''Our vision is to truly transform CSIA into an airport which is benchmarked on global standards of airport operations and service.
And we will create a unique destination which combines the latest in technology with the vibrancy and warmth that is distinctly Indian.'' Mr Sanjay Reddy further said, ''The transformation of CSIA is one of the most challenging airport development projects and challenges have encouraged us to think innovatively and look at all possible options to make it a global benchmark among airports and we are confident that in time, CSIA will emerge as a destination that Mumbai will be proud of.'' The master plan has been designed to expand and upgrade the infrastructure at CSIA to cater a traffic of 40 million passangers per year and one million metric tonnes of cargo annually.
The master plan for CSIA builds on the comprehensive planning carried out over the last six months and encapsulates a blue print for a major transformation of the airport by 2010, Mr Reddy added.
