India may rope in foreign hockey coach after Asian Games
New Delhi, Oct 12 (UNI) Despite the experiment with Gerhard Rach falling flat on its face, India might rope in a foreign hockey coach after the Asian Games, said Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) President KPS Gill.
''Everything would depend on how we fare in the Asian Games. Once it's over, we'll sit and discuss it with all,'' Mr Gill said.
He admitted that the team, which finished 11th, didn't do well in the recent World Cup but felt the problem has been diagnosed.
''I think the coach has hit the nail on its head when he said that we have to work out on our technique while playing long tournaments. We, however, did well in shorter tournaments,'' he explained.
Earlier, India had its first foreign hockey coach in Rach, who was appointed just a few days before the Olympics, replacing Rajinder Singh. Under the German, India had finished a poor seventh at Athens and fourth at Champions Trophy.
