Huge haul of landmines and ammunition in Kolkata

Kolkata, Oct 12(UNI) In a massive haul, the Army and West Bengal police recovered 541 anti-personnel mines and a catche of pistols and bullets in a joint raid in the city today.

Official sources said acting on a tip off, personnel of the Army Intelligence Corps (AIC) and CID of state police unearthed the stockpiled arms and explosives from a house in the Behala area in the eastern part of the city.

The sources said three persons, including an army jawan, had been arrested.

The seized mines, pistols and ammunition were stolen from an ordnance factory some time ago which the Army informed the state police.

The joint team of the Army and police had been conducting raids in different parts of the city over the past few days.
