HC notices to Guj Govt in riot case
Ahmedabad, Oct 12 (UNI) The Gujarat High Court has issued notices to the Gujarat Government, Vadodara Police Commissioner and District Collector on a petition filed by the father of a boy who was killed in the Vadodara riots on May 1, this year.
The petitioner Usman Mansuri, in his petition, alleged that his son Ayaz (17) was killed in police firing on May 1. However, the Vadodara police has claimed that the boy had died in firing, from unidentified people during the riots.
Mr Mansuri has demanded re-investigation into the death of his son and compensation to his family.
The notices, issued by Justice S R Bhrambhatt, are returnable by November 6. Six persons had died in the riots that had broken out after the civic body demolished a 200-year-old ''Dargah''.
