HC driects Police to book people under criminal tresspass
New Delhi, Oct 12 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today directed the Delhi Police to file charges OF criminal trespass against those who are carrying out unauthorised constructions on public and government land.
Hearing a PIL on unauthorised constructions, acting Chief Justice Vijender Jain and Justice Rekha Sharma said the people were resorting to unauthorised constructions again on the same premises even after they had been removed by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and Delhi Development Authority (DDA).
Submitting its status report before the court, the CBI said the investigating agency had carried out raids at the official and residential premises of several corrupt MCD officials yesterday and seized Rs 35 lakh in cash and documents relating to the possession of several movable and immovable property in the names of these officials.
CBI Counsel Harish Gulati said 10 chargesheets and 21 preliminary enquiries (PEs) have been registered against the MCD officials who colluded with the corrupt builders to cheat gullible public.
Mr Gulati said there was a nexus between the politicians, builders and MCD Officials and CBI was looking into it.
During the raids it came to light that many of the unauthorised buildings had been demolished on paper, but actually they were existing after a cursory demolition, said the CBI Counsel.
The CBI sought three more months time to carry out the entire investigation.
The Court expressed its anguish over MCD and DDA when the CBI submitted its report.
