Dengue toll in Punjab, Haryana reaches nine
Chandigarh, Oct 12 (UNI) Viral disease, dengue claimed another life in Haryana as a 20-year-old boy Sunil, died at the Civil hospital in Ambala last night.
With this case, the toll in Punjab and Haryana has reached nine.
Six-year-old boy Harsh from Langer Chhani village near Ambala had died in the PGI hospital here three days back.
Five dengue deaths had taken place in Punjab, three in Ludhiana and two in Ferozepur, last week.
In the last 24 hours, 33 new cases of the suspected dengue fever have been reported in the PGI hospital here.
A PGI press release here this evening stated that among the new cases, 16 patients were from Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula, while others were from the neighbouring states of Punjab and Haryana.
Presently, there are 44 patients admitted in the hospital.
All these patients, except one, were reported as stable, the release added.
As many as 188 patients of suspected dengue fever have been treated in the PGI till now.
