BJP urges Prez not to intervene in Afzal's case
Ranchi, Oct 12: The BJP in Jharkhand today urged President APJ Abdul Kalam not to intervene in the capital punishment of Mohammad Afzal Guru.
A delegation comprising BJP leaders, led by state party president Yadunath Pandey, today met Jharkhand governor Syed Sibte Razi and handed over a memorandum addressed to the President where they urged not to interfere in the issue of Afzal Guru, a prime accused in Parliament attack.
Afzal Guru was awarded death sentence by the Supreme Court and was to be hanged on October 20.
Mr Pandey in the memorandum said the person who had attacked Parliament should be awarded the death sentence.
