No immediate signs of N Korean nuclear test seoul

SEOUL, Oct 11 (Reuters) No immediate signs of seismic activity have been detected in North Korea, a South Korean geoscience official said today, discounting reports of a possible North Korean nuclear test.

North Korea appears to have tested a second nuclear device following Monday's reported test, Japanese national broadcaster NHK said today, citing government sources who said they detected seismic activity.

''There was no sign of a test,'' said Chi Heon-cheol, a senior official at the Earthquake Research Center at Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources.

The South Korean presidential Blue House also said there were no immediate signs of a test, citing data from the research centre, which had been among the first to report on the North's test on Monday.
