India's Udapa defeats Hungarian Jozsef in World Blind Chess event
Margao, Oct 11 (UNI) India's Srikrishna Udapa today defeated Hungarian Jozsef Denes after a tough fight in the second round of the XIth individual Chess Championship for the blind in progress here in South Goa.
While India's Vasant Patil drew higher rated Geraman Fries Elisabeth and his son Shirish Patil won against Sweden's 17-year-old Patrik Berggren.
The main attraction of the day was table number 31 where India's Rajesh Oza was playing against Darshan Patel also from India. It was a very close encounter and after 6 long hour both agreed on a draw.
India team too had a few mixed results with Swapnil Shah losing to higher rated Russian Alexander RomanenKov, Gaurav Gagodia losing to Croatia's Vltako Merendic. Madan Bagayatkar continued his good form and drew with his much higher rated opponents.

Sergey Krylov- Russia bt Manuel Perez - Spain, Norlis Year- Cuba lost to Dacian Pribeanu - Romania, Franc Mlacnik-Slovania lost to Jorgen Magnusson - Sweden.
Carlos Larduet- Cuba drew with Chriss Ross - England.
Schellmanu Frank- Germany drew with Sergej Wassin - Ukraine, Sergei Smirnov- Russia beat Victor Konev - Ukraine, Pohlers Jurgen- Germany drew Lubov Zsiltzov - Ukraine, Rafal Gunajew- Poland drew Lindenmair Anton - Germany Johansen Kai Rogger- Norway lost to Rasim Nizam - Bulgaria, Mikhalev Alexey - Russia drew Gavril Draghici from Spain.
