Denial of marriage proposal leads to attack on girl

Chandigarh, Oct 11 (UNI) A 19-year-old girl was seriously injured in an attack by a youth here today after the latter was denied her hand in marriage.

The girl, Shivani Kamboj, sustained serious injuries on head and hands as the accused mercilessly attacked her with sharp-edged weapons, police said. She has been admitted to Government Medical College in Sector 32 here.

The Yamunanagar-based accused, Ajay Kamboj, has been booked under section 307 IPC.

It was said that the accused was a distant relative of the girl, whose parents had denied the proposal of marriage.
