CRPF lifters, Punjab Police wrestlers dominate Police Games

Jalandhar, Oct 11 (UNI) Monica Devi of CRPF created new meet record in the 69 Kg Women's weightlifting in the 55th All India Police Games here, even as her team continued its winning streak on the third day today.

Meanwhile hosts Punjab Police dominated in wrestling events which began at the PAP Indoor Stadium here today.

In 69 Kg category Monica Devi of CRPF created a new meet record lifting 230 Kg weight while her team mate A Bijaya Devi captured second place lifting 172 Kg. Ruchi Rani of UP bagged third position with 155 Kg.

Soma Rani and Sunaina of the CRPF lifted 191 Kg and 185 Kg respectively to secured first and second places in the 63 Kg Women's weightlifting while K K Kumari of CISF stood third with 169 Kg.

Monica was the third CRPF weightlifter to create new records in the meet so far. Earlier, Olympian N Kunja Rani Devi created a new national record in 48 Kg Women's weightlifting and Sanamacha Chanu made a new meet record in 53 Kg category yesterday.

In the Men's section, Harpal Singh of Punjab Police won 85 Kg weightlifting event lifting 255 Kg while Hara Goapal of CRPF(260 Kg) and Balwinder Singh Of Punjab Police( 259 Kg) secured second and third positions respectively.

In 94 Kg category, Ram Chander of Haryana Police lifted 253 Kg to secure the top position followed by Rajesh Batra of BSF (249 Kg) second and Mukhtair Singh of CRPF (248 Kg) third.

Wrestlers of the Punjab Police had a clear edge over their rivals winning four of the six events in Greco Roman and Free Style wrestling.

In 55 Kg Greco Roman Rohit Kumar of Punjab Police stood first while Laxmi Narain of BSF and Amandeep of Punjab Police finished at second and third place respectively.

In 74 Kg category of Greco Roman wrestling, Ranbir Singh(Punjab Police) bagged first position followed by Sanjay Dawas(CRPF) and Bhupinder Singh(Punjab Police) at second and third places respectively.

In 120 Kg category, Harcharan Singh and Azad Singh of Punjab Police bagged top two positions followed by Ved Pal of CRPF at the third place.

In 55 Kg free style, Rakesh Kumar of BSF was declared winner while Rakesh Kumar and Salim (both Punjab Police) stood second and third respectively.

Chand Ram of CRPF won 74 Kg free style wrestling event while Rakesh Kumar and Hardeep Kumar of Punjab Police finished at second and third positions respectively.

In the 120 Kg category again wrestlers of Punjab Police Palwinder Singh Cheema and Parminder Singh captured top two positions leaving third place for Pardeep Kumar of CRPF.
