Burundi seeks Indian cooperation in agri-processing
New Delhi, Oct 11 (UNI) India and the Republic of Burundi today discussed prospects of promoting cooperation in the field of agri-processing, technical education and engineering between the two countries.
Leading a high-power delegation, Second Vice President of Burundi Marine Barampama met Minister of State for Agriculture Kanti Lal Bhuria for exploring cooperation between the two countries on various fields.
India exported floriculture products and spices worth 5.49 million US dollars to Burundi and imports from there included wood and wooden furniture items.
Burundi is also a member of Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) and shares common concerns with India in international matters.
Mr Bhuria observed that there is potential for increasing export of agricultural products to Burundi and said that the country was keen to promote economic cooperation to the extent possible.
Organisations like Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Chambers of Commerce and Industry should be involved in promoting trade relations between the two countries, the Minister suggested.
