Bihar remembers Jayaprakash Narayan
Patna, Oct 11 (UNI) Glowing tributes were paid to Loknayak Jay Prakash Narayan on his 101th birth anniversary today.
Bihar Governor R.S.Gavai and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar were among others, who remembered the ''mass leader'' of the 70s and his contribution to the society.
They placed wreaths at the portrait of Loknayak and called upon the people to follow his path of selfless service to the people.
Later Mr Kumar visited the residence of the ''mass leader'' at Kadamkuan and spent some time. There the chief minister inquired about the inmates of Charkha samiti, which was founded by the Loknayak.
Accompanied by Bihar Assembly Speaker Udai Narayan Choudhry and Sports, Art and Culture Minister Janardan Singh Sigriwal, Mr Kumar later visited Sitabdiara, the native village of JP at the borders of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
A function was also organised by the rebel camp of the JD(U) in Patna to pay tribute to the Loknayak. NDA's national convenor George Fernandes, Capt (retd) Jay Narayan Nishad, Vashishth Nayaran Singh, Arun Kumar and others were present there.
