3 crore houses to be built under IAY, Hussain

Shillong, Oct 11 (UNI) The Bharat Nirman Campaign, highlighting the Centre's flagship programmes, was inaugurated by Dhubri MP Anowar Hussain at the DICC Field here today.

Mr Hussain said the North Eastern region should be aware of the benefits of the flagship programmes like the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Sarva Siksha Abhigyan, National Rural Health Mission, RTI and the 15-point programme specially implemented to promote the welfare of the minority.

He further said about three crore houses would be built under the Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) for the people below poverty line within three years.

Mr Hussain said Centre's had released 10 per cent the total budget allocated to different departments to ensure the region's speedy development and minimize the regional imbalance.

He further added that an amount of Rs 3,600 crore is currently available with the Ministry of DoNER under Non-lapsable fund for increasing the pace of economic growth of NE region.
