Woman Dy Commander among 10 CPI (Maoists) to surrender
Visakhapatnam, Oct 10 (UNI) Ten CPI (Maoists) including a woman deputy commander today surrendered before Visakhapatnam District police here today.
Superintendent of Police J G Murali told reporters here that the Maoists were M K Sita alias Rajitha (20), a dalam deputy commander in Peddhabaylu Mandal and nine other militia members - V Koteswara Rao (24), P Balaraju (24), P Narayana Rao (30), P Chittibabu (32), G Nelakantam (20), G Pothoanna (22), T Bhagavathi Rao (25), G Ramesha alias Ramababu (20) and M Bodhayya (40).
They wanted to leave the naxal movement earlier but group leaders resisted it. However, they later let them surrender, Mr Murali said.
In the last four months, there were six exchanges of fire in tribal areas, with three persons killed. A total of 33 Maoists had surrendered.
Combing operations were going on and today police uncovered an arms dump seizing 22 claymore mines, two country revolvers, one hand grenade, one land mine, five wire bundles, one weapon-making machine and two plastic drums.
