Varun to be used by BJP appropriately: BJP
New Delhi, Oct 10: Denying that there was any opposition to Varun Gandhi's candidature for the forthcoming byelection from Vidisha Lok Sabha constituency, senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu today said that the party would be using the services of the youngster appropriately.
Asked about the party's plans for Mr Gandhi who was not given a party ticket, Mr Naidu said there was no opposition from the Madhya Pradesh unit. They simply wanted 'someone local' to be fielded and the national leadership complied with their wish.
''Varun Gandhi, the sole member of the Nehru-Indira Gandhi family in the BJP, is a youngster with a bright future ahead for him in the party and none should see this as an end. We have good use for him and will certainly want his services for the party", he said.
Mr Gandhi, the BJP MP from Pilibhit and son of Maneka Gandhi, was the choice of the two BJP stalwarts Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L K Advani for the October 30 byelection from Vidisha, but the party's Central Election Committee instead finalised the name of Madhya Pradesh Public Health Engineering Minister Rampal Singh from Vidisha, side stepping the demand of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan to accomodate his wife Sadhana Singh from the seat.
