UT steps up measures for prevention and control of dengue
Chandigarh, Oct 10 (UNI) After the 38 confirmed cases reported from the city, the field operations for prevention and control of dengue were stepped up today by deploying the special survey teams in the areas where the dengue cases were detected.
The confirmed cases are being investigated by the department so as to ascertain the source of infection by verification of history of movement of the patients.
The medical officers of the dispensaries were again put on alert for institution of control measures in their respective areas.
Out of 190 cases of suspected dengue cases reported from Government Hospital, PGI, Government Medical College and Hospital in Chandigarh and Fortis Hospital in Mohali, a total 113 have been confirmed.
The patients belonged to Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, areas adjoining Delhi and Uttaranchal.
In order to create awareness among the masses IEC activities were carried out in different areas of Chandigarh. People were educated not to allow conditions favourable for the breeding of mosquitoes in their surrounding.
