UP take Slender lead

Nagpur, Oct 10 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh managed to score up 118 runs for the loss of six wickets at tea in their second innings against Rest of India (RoI) on the second day of the Irani Trophy match here today.

After conceding a 53-run lead in the first innings, UP kept losing wickets at regular intervals and crawled to 118 for six in their second outing with Jyoti Yadav batting on 22 and Amir Khan on six.

Earlier, the UP bowlers had to toil for 90 minutes to send the three remaining batsmen of RoI back.

Resuming at the overnight score of 131 for seven, L Balaji and S Badrinath added 39 runs for the eighth wicket for RoI. The last pair of Bardinath and Pragyan Ojha added 46 crucial runs to the RoI tally.

Badrinath had an excellent outing, remaining unbeaten with 80 runs to his credit with 16 hits to the fence. He completed his 50 off 77 balls with 10 boundaries.

Shalabh Shrivastava snatched two more wickets today to end with figures of five for 74. Praveen Kumar took three for 64.
