Three armymen, one militant killed in fierce encounter in Poonch

Jammu, Oct 10 (UNI) Three army troops, including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), and a hardcore terrorist were killed in an encounter between security forces and terrorists at Surankote in Poonch district.

An Army spokesperson told UNI that on receiving information about presence of militants in Annawala area of Surankote tehsil this morning, the security forces started a search opreation.

The operation converted into fierce gun battle between troops and militants, which was still on when reports last came in.

Three army men, including the JCO, were killed while security forces gunned down an ''area commander'' of Lashkar-e-Toiba, who was identified as zabran. Further details were awaited.
