Telgi's doctor to be changed
Pune, Oct 10 (UNI) A special MCOCA court here today directed the jail authorities to change the doctor of Abdul Karim Telgi, the prime accused in the fake stamp paper scam, and also ordered that another accused Anil Kumar Shah be shifted immediately to a private hospital for treatment.
All matters and arguments relating to the case would come up for consideration of charges on November 10.
Special Judge Chitra Bhedi had received an application from Telgi stating that he feared for his life from his doctors at Sassoon Hospital and there was political pressure to get rid of him. The Judge in her order said that Telgi must get the best treatment and the attending doctors be changed, and other doctors from the same department should take over his medical care.
The Judge also ordered the Yerawada Jail Superintendent to shift another accused, Anil Kumar Shah to a private hospital for treatment as his condition was critical and he is suffering from urinary problems. Kumar was brought on a stretcher by the other accused before the camera. The Chief Medical Officer of Yerwada Jail, Dr S Mane confirmed that Kumar's condition was critical and Doctors at Sassoon hospital had three times in the past failed to do enough and were reluctant to admit him. The Court ordered that Kumar be shifted to a private hospital immediately.
All the accused including Telgi were brought before the court through video conferencing and those on bail including former Mumbai Police Commission Ranjit Sharma and suspended DCP Pradip Sawant appeared in the court.
