TDP wants adoption of Women's uota bill in present form
Hyderabad, Oct 10 (UNI) The opposition Telugu Desam Party(TDP) today maintained that the Centre should immediately ensure passage of the Women's Reservation Bill in the present form itself.
''The party's stand on this issue has been consistent from the beginning'', TDP Parliamentary party leader K Yerran Naidu and MP R Chandrasekara Reddy told newspersons after a meeting of the party's Polit Bureau, chaired by TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu.
Referring to the three proposals put-forth by Union Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee for consideration of various parties, they said the party would consider the proposal for increasing the seats in Parliament to provide for one third reservation for women, only if there was a broad consensus among all parties.
The third proposal was the one making it the responsibility of political parties to set apart one-third of seats for women, while granting party ticket.
