Sourav deserves better treatment: Wasim Akram
Kolkata, Oct 10 (UNI) Pakistan bowling great Wasim Akram today said former India skipper Sourav Ganguly deserved better treatment than being unceremoniously dumped out of the national team.
''I am sad at the way he (Sourav) was mistreated and shown the door. Cricket Australia had told Steve Waugh that it was his last series in 2004 when India went to play there. So wherever they played, Steve got a standing ovation. I am talking about this pride,'' Wasim told reporters here.
''But things hapenned differently in the sub-continent. We love to throw away our heroes. Sourav is a great cricketer. He is India's most successful captain and deserved a better treatment,'' the former Pakistan skipper said.
''If I were in his place, I would have hung my boots,'' Wasim added.
