SGPC pardon Harbhajan after apology

Amritsar, Oct 10 (UNI) Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Avtar Singh today said the Sikh community has pardoned Team India off spinner Harbhajan Singh as the player had already apologised for appearing in an advertisement of a liquor company with open hair.

''Since Harbhajan Singh has apologised for his act after realising his misdeed, he should be pardoned and the matter stands resolved,'' the SGPC chief told reporters here.

Harbhajan Singh had extended his apology before the Sikh community on Saturday for his act in the ad campaign by saying that he had been deeply pained for having hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community.

''With folded hands as a true Sikh, I apologise to all the Sikhs'', Bhajji had said.
