Sethumadhavan wins Vayalar award
Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 10 (UNI) Noted Malayalam writer Sethumadhavan has been selected for this year's Vayalar Rama Varma Award instituted by the Vayalar Rama Varma Trust in memory of the famous Malayalam poet of that name, for his novel 'Adyalangal'.
Trust president M K Sanu told reporters here the award carried a cash prize of Rs 25,000 and a citation. It would be presented on October 27.
A retired chairman of the South Indian Bank, Sethumadhavan had also won Kerala Sahitya Akademi Awards in 1978 and 1982 for his works 'Pediswapnangal' and 'Pandavapuram' respectively.
He also served as a member of the Akademi in 1991.
'Kaimudrakal', 'Velutha Koodarangal', 'Pandavapuram', 'Sethuvinte' 'Kathakal', 'Pedi Swapnangal', 'Nigyogam', 'Thaliyola' and 'Kiratham' were his other works.
