Sania crashes out of Bangkok Open
Bangkok, Oct 10 (UNI) Sania Mirza crashed out of the Bangkok Open losing to six seeded Meghann Shaughnessy of the United States 4-6, 4-6 in the first round of the 200000 dollar Tier III event here today.
The Hyderabadi, who turns 20 next month, gave a good fight to her higher-ranked rival but faltered at crucial points.
Sania, ranked 61st in the world, tried her best against the American who is placed 18 rungs higher but Shaughnessy never relaxed her grip and played compact tennis to shut the door on the Indian.
Sania partners Thailand's Tamarine Tanasugarn in womens' doubles and they play Sino-Russian pair of Meng Yuan and Alina Jidkova in the first round.
