Ramoowalia hopeful of third front

Jalandhar, Oct 10 (UNI) Lok Bhalai Party president and former Union Minister Balwant Singh Ramoowalia today claimed that a 'Third Front' would soon be floated in Punjab to fight the ruling Congress and rival Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP combine in the coming assembly elections.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Ramoowalia said that various parties, including his party, Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), Akali Dal (1920) and Shiromani Akali Dal (Longowal) were holding a dialogue over the issue.

He, however, ruled out the possibility of alliance with Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar).

Mr Ramoowalia said that both the ruling Congress and the opposition SAD-BJP combine would be defeated in the assembly elections and the Third Front would play a key role in the formation of a new government following the assembly polls.
