Over 23 lakh employed under MPREGS

Bhopal, Oct 10 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Government today claimed that employment had been provided to 23.28 lakh persons under the state Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MPREGS).

Under the scheme, 49,751 works had been completed at a cost of Rs 835.63 crore, an official release said here today.

Besides, 44.10 lakh families had been registered and job cards issued to 43.81 lakh families.

Launched on February 2, 2006, in 18 districts of the state, the scheme provides 100 days employment on demand from adult members of rural families during a financial year, the release added.
