Nikkei opens lower after N.Korea nuclear test
TOKYO, Oct 10 (Reuters) The Nikkei average fell 0.45 per cent on Tuesday after a three-day weekend and as blue chips, such as Advantest Corp., fell after North Korea's announcement that it had conducted its first nuclear test.
Bucking the trend, shares of Shin-Etsu Chemical Co. Ltd. rose after a newspaper report on Saturday that the company will likely beat its annual operating profit forecast by 12 percent.
The Nikkei was down 74.54 points at 16,361.52 as of 0008 GMT.
The TOPIX index was 0.33 percent lower at 1,628.76. The Tokyo market was closed on Monday for a public holiday.
