MLA's resignation issue raised in Assembly

Dehradun, Oct 10 (UNI)Noisy scenes were witnessed in the Uttaranchal Assembly today, with the opposition raising the issue of a congress MLA's resignation.

As soon as proceedings began, Uttarkhand Kranti Dal member Pritam Singh raised the issue of the resignation of Congress MLA Kishore Upadhyay a few days back. He was also joined by members of the BJP and the BSP. Opposition leader Matbar Singh Kandari said that the absence of MLA in the house also raised suspicion and demanded a clarification whether the MLA had in fact submitted his resignation.

He also demanded from the ruling Congress that the reason for Mr Upadhaya's resignation be made public.

Congress MLA from Tehri and former Minister Kishore Upadhyay, accusing the government of apathetic attitude towards his constituency, had submitted resignation to the Chief Minister N D Tiwari.

However, Speaker Yashpal Arya maintained that he had no information about the resignation.
