Japan coach unhappy over pitch conditions
Bangalore, Oct 10 (UNI) Japan will go for an attacking game against India in the AFC Asia Cup Qualifiers, to be played under floodlights in the Sri Kanteerava Stadium here tomorrow, Coach Ivon Ivica Osim said today.
Addressing a press conference here, he, however, declined to disclose the formation of the team, unlike Indian Coach Robert Douglas Houghton announcing a 4-4-2 combination.
''Formation depends on opponents' move. Our players are well versed with the tactics we have to adopt in the field. Both the teams have weaknesses and strong points. We will try to utilise strong points to overcome the weak ones,'' he added.
Mr Osim took strong exception to the ground conditions, stating that he was not happy with it. ''The way the ground is prepared will pose problems for both the teams. If India likes cricket and have good grounds to play that game, we can play football in cricket ground. It does not mean that I don't like cricket. It is better if we play in good conditons.'' When persisted about the combition he would like to adopt on the morrow, he said ''we have more than two combinations and we may change the combination any time. Our players can quickly adapt to either of the combinations.'' Japan would announce the first eleven tomorrow, he added.
