Indian-Oil to offer petroleum management prog

New Delhi, Oct 10: IndianOil will offer executives of the oil and gas companies courses in Petroleum Management in consonance with a leading French company IFP.

The move will be executed by IndianOil's apex learning centre at Gurgaon.

IndianOil, as India's flagship national oil company, operates 10 of India's 18 refineries and a 9,000 km network of cross-country pipelines to feed its countrywide marketing network.

IFP, France, is a company specialising in R and D, training and information for sustainable development in the fields of energy, transport and environment.

Petroleum refining offers vast opportunities for growth in the new millennium on account of narrowing of the gap between global demand for petroleum products and existing refining capacities.

Setting up of new greenfield refineries is highly capital-intensive and involves a minimum of three to four years time. On the other hand, improving efficiencies and augmenting capacities at existing refineries through revamp, de-bottlenecking, etc, is a cost-effective proposition in the short-term.

It is here that IFP Training's expertise in developing apabilities becomes very useful for those operating refineries and petrochemical plants that intend to enhance their operating margins in the given situation.

According to Indian Oil-Vice Chairman (H R) V C Agrawal, IndianOil's association with IFP goes back to the early 70s. Its Haldia refinery was constructed and commissioned in 1971 adopting IFP Technology for the primary and secondary units of its fuel block.

IndianOil's R&D Centre at Faridabad also has a long association with IFP. In fact, many of IndianOil's engineers have undergone training at IFP School. The synergy created between IFP and IndianOil through their association of over four decades provides an excellent foundation for conducting select programmes of IFP Training at IIPM for the downstream companies of India.
