HMIL to invest in Asom for manpower requirements
New Delhi, Oct 10: Hyundai Motors India Ltd (HMIL) will invest Rs 7.5 crore over the next five years in Asom to supply training material to engineering institutes and update its instructors about the latest technology.
The country's leading car manufacturer, met Asom Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and discussed the company's plan for the state.
During the meeting HMIL MD H S Lheem promised HMIL's help for supporting engineering institutes in Asom by supplying training material and providing job opportunities for the students.
This plan had been earlier discussed during the course of discussions between Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) Chairman Chung and the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh last month.
Under the plan, certificates will be issued by the company to graduates from 2008 onwards. HMIL also proposes to give the graduates a chance to work with the company and its dealers and vendors.
The plan will kick-off with the identification of an institute in Guwahati as a sample case, adding three more institutes in 2008 and by 2011 will expand to 18 covering all the engineering institutes in Asom.
An estimated 200 jobs per year will be created by 2011.
''Our plans also reflect the importance of the Indian market and underline the company's keenness to help the state and thus generate skilled manpower, which is a mutually beneficial exercise for both the state and our company,'' Mr Lheem said.
The company recorded combined sales of 252,851 during calendar year 2005 with a growth of 17.26 per cent over year 2004. It has rolled out 10,00,000 cars in 90 months since its inception and is a leading exporter of passenger cars with exports of over Rs 1,800 crore.
