'States for screening at airports, railway stations'
New Delhi, Oct 10: The health ministry has organised a meeting of the Chikungunya affected states tomorrow to deliberate on a contingency plan to control the disease which has affected over 1.3 million people in the country.
Health Minister A Ramadoss said that the meeting would formulate a contingency plan. The states would also be provided fogging machines, insecticides and other logistical support to control mosquitos which are the vector for both dengue and chikungunya.
Meanwhile, the health ministry has issued an advisory to the states that they should screen people at airports, railway stations and bus stands and any body suffering from fever should be taken to hospitals.
The government has notified 30 hospitals in the capital where people suffering from fever could go directly for blood tests.
