Govt-Maoists summit talks resume in Kathmandu
Kathmandu, Oct 10: The second summit talks between the Government and Maoists resumed today at the residence of Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala in Baluwatar.
The summit talks that began on Sunday, were postponed for today as no agreement was reached during the first meet.
All the top leaders of the Seven Party Alliance (SPA) and Maoists along with four human rights observers are taking part in the talks.
The talks resumed just after 0900 hrs local time, even though they were scheduled to begin at 0800 hrs.
SPA Leaders said today they will try to reach at a consensus on contentious issues like interim statute, future of monarchy, arms management and date and modalities of elections for a constituent assembly.
''Issues related to arms management and interim constitution will be settled today,''Narayan Man Bijukchhe, President of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party told mediapersons.
Civil society members and victims of People's Movement 2006 were sitting-in outside the PM residence with placards and banners urging the SPA and Maoists to take the talks to a logical conclusion at the earliest.
None of the mediapersons was allowed to enter the talks venue.
Security was tight around the PM residence.
