Kalam must dismiss UPA govt for corruption: George

New Delhi, Oct 10: NDA Convenor and former Defence Minister George Fernandes today demanded President A P J Abdul Kalam dismiss the UPA government and order fresh elections to save the nation from a 'corrupt establishment' which has earned the dubious title of 'worst performer' by the Transparency International's bribe payer (BPI) index.

In his letter, Mr Fernandes reminded Dr Kalam that he had taken oath of office office in the name of God that he would do the best of his ability to 'preserve, protect and defend' the Constitution and the law and devote himself to the service of the people of India. "Sir, with great humility, I wish to make a request to save the honour of the nation over which you preside", he said.

He said India has been declared as number one corrupt nation in the world, which is a pointer to the fact that there was violation of the Law and Constitution by those not holding office in the Government. There can't be anything more demeaning to the country than being a nation that has been declared as number one corrupt nation in the world, ''he said referring to a newspaper report which said that Indian exporters have been bribing the overseas clients heavily.
