Fawn lives at residents' mercy as authorities await orders

Lucknow, Oct 10 (UNI) An unclaimed fawn had been living at house in the Uttar Pradesh capital for the past three days, courtesy the wildlife authorities as red tape prevents them from taking custody of it.

Three days ago, residents of sector B, Aliganj here had found a fawn wandering near Basant Park. After capturing it, the residents approached the Lucknow Zoological garden.

But after initial assurance of taking its custody, the zoo authorities backtracked claiming since the deer enclosure was over-crowded, it could be brought to the zoo only after the Chief Wildlife Warden gave written permission.

The office of the Chief Wildlife Warden, on the other hand, maintained it was yet to receive any information in writing.
