EC officials to review poll preparations in Manipur

Imphal, Oct 10 (UNI) Chief Election Commissioner of India N Gopala Swami is expected to visit here on October 18 to take stock of political situation and see necessary poll preparation as Manipur goes to poll for 9th Assembly elections scheduled for early 2007.

State election department officials today said the electoral roll preparations for Assembly elections were in full swing and the visit of the CEC Chief would primarily focus on security arrangements.

The state election department is expected to publish the final electoral rolls on January 3.

Meanwhile, most of the political parties have demanded holding of elections in phase wise so that adequate security could be provided to ensure free and fair elections.
