Delhi Metro rail: Patil wants CISF to meet challenge
Hyderabad, Oct 10 (UNI) Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil today asked CISF personnel entrusted with providing security to Delhi metro rail, to meet the challenge of their new assignment.
The latest attack on local trains of Mumbai clearly brought in to play new variable in handling security of local trains and metros, he observed, addressing the Assistant Commandants after inspecting the passing out parade at the premier National Industrial Security Academy.
Urging them to balance security with facilitation, he said ''Sheer volume of passengers, small time slots available for conducting security checks, apparantely innocent and common-looking agents of terrorist outfits, improvised explosive devices and new modus operandi are some of the challenges that you shall contend with in your new assignment''.
Complimenting the 96,000-strong CISF for excelling in new assignments, inclduding disaster management, security to government buildings in Delhi, VIP security and consultancy services to the private sector, he said their experience and training in handling complex situations made them the best equipped force to handle such contingencies. ''I am sure that you will only raise the bar of performance in each new assignment that you get,'' he added.
