CM announces commission for reforms in the education system
Jammu, Oct 10 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad announced the constitution of a commission to propose reforms in the education system and private schools in the state.
Speaking at one-day conference on educational reforms and role of private schools here last evening, the Chief Minister said the focus should be on reshaping the education system to make it qualitative and market oriented.
Describing proper education imparting system as a Jugular Vein for positive metamorphosis of society, Mr Azad called for urgent reforms to make state's education system most effective and on a par with international standards.
The Chief Minister said the commission would be asked to submit the preliminary report to the government by December, 2006 with respect to the temporary recognition and affiliation of the schools.
''The commission would give the final report pertaining to all aspects of reforms to the government by the end of fiscal. The performance of private schools is better as compared to the government run schools and this aspect has also to be looked into. Though government schools provide good salaries and better facilities to the teachers as compared to private schools even then their performance is not that as it should have been,'' he said.
The Chief Minister said all this scenario requires expert analysis so that imparting of quality education is ensured in government schools."We have also to look into the fact that in government schools how a qualified staff is trained and their methodology of imparting education upgraded," he added.
