City police offers guidelines for safety of angadias
Surat, Oct 10 (UNI) The police has offered some suggestions to ''angadias (couriers)'' for their safety during the Diwali season.
The ''angadias'' have been vulnerable to robbers in the past as they carry valuable items, including diamonds, during the festival season. Last year, the police had registered as many as eight cases of looting on complaints lodged by the ''angadias''.
The police has suggested that the ''angadias'' change their routes often, rotate the field staff, and also effect changes in their service timings so as to befool miscreants who might be tracking them.
The guidelines, issued by police commissioner Sudhir Sinha, has also advised ''angadias'' to travel in groups and desist from travelling in shared-autorickshaws.
