Chouhan asked to reply to election petition by Nov 3

Jabalpur, Oct 10 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court today quashed a petition challenging the maintainability of an election petition seeking setting aside Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's election from Budhni on charges of alleged violation of poll code and holding offices of profit.

Hearing arguments on maintainability of the petition filed by defeated Congress candidate Rajkumar Patel, Justice A K Saxena quashed the fresh petition and directed Mr Chouhan to reply to an earlier notice by November 3.

Petitioner's counsel Manoj Sharma told the court the election petition had been filed as per rules and Mr Chouhan's objection to it deserved to be rejected.

The court accepted the petitioner's request and quashed Mr Chouhan's petition.
