Centre not responding to rehab displaced persons:Sarkar
Agartala, Oct 10 (UNI) Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has accused the Centre of not providing rehabilitation to people displaced due to construction of wire fencing along the Indo-Bangla border.
According to official sources, about one lakh people had been displaced due to erection of barbed wire fencing along the 856 km long border with Bangladesh.
Talking to newsmen yesterday, Mr Sarkar said his government would continue pressurising the Centre to rehabilitate these displaced persons.
However, he said the state government would bear ten per cent of the total Rs 93 crores rehabilitation package.
'' We will not drop the demand and continue to raise the issue with the Centre,'' Mr Sarkar said as it would not be feasible for the state government to bear the entire cost.
