CBI raids 35 places in connection with defence deals

New Delhi, Oct 10: In a nation-wide operation, the CBI raided 35 places, including 27 in Delhi, in connection with defence deals pertaining to disclosures made in the 'Tehelka' tapes.

The raids were conducted at residences and offices of arms dealers and middlemen in Mumbai, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Sangroor (Punjab), besides Delhi, according to sources.

Among those whose premises were raided included Suresh Nanda, Sudhir Choudhury, Ms Sahani and Bipin Khanna.

The raids follow the handing over of the cases to the CBI by the Defence Ministry after disclosures of underhand dealings in defence procurement were made by 'Tehelka' through a sting operation.
