BSNL to expand 3G services in North East

Shillong, Oct 10 (UNI) The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) would soon expand its 3G services to boost e-commerce activities in North East.

With 3G service, a BSNL mobile subscriber can transmit data at a high rate as good as two mbps, while the mobile handset being stationary, BSNL Chief General Manager (North East 1) A K Gupta said.

This services would benefit businessmen by transmitting data services at 384 kbps in a slow moving while 144 kbps if moving in a car. The 3G service would be expanded in 3G towns in Shillong, Byrnihat, Tura and Jowai towns in Meghalaya, Aizwal, Lunglei and Champai towns in Mizoram, Agartala, RK Pur, Dharamnagar, Ambasa and Kaliashahar in Tripura.

Besides, the 3G service, BSNL would also introduce new mobile services such as GPRS, EDGE, MMS, Location Based Services, Push To Talk, CAMEL ph 111 IN and OTA in the region.
