Barrackpore Bar Association to remain open in any bandh day
Barrackpore, Oct 10 (UNI) There was a minor scuffle today between the rival members of Barrackpore Bar Association after its main gate was found locked which forced many advocates to abstain from taking cases on time, official sources said.
As many Bar members turned for the day to resume work after yeterday's Trinamool Congress sponsored Bangla bandh, they found the door was put under a separate lock.
The agitated members immediately called a meeting outside the gate and decided to keep open the door of the BBA in all bandh in future.
Nearly 600 members of the association will soon sit in a special general meeting to adopt such a resolution, BBA general secretary Sushanta Ray announced after the emergency meeting.
He said a two-hour-long emergency meeting of the BBA members today proposed to adopt the resolution that would empower the office bearers to keep open during any bandh in future.
Convenor of Trinamool Congress Legal Cell Rabindranath Bhattacharrya alleged that a CPI (M) supporter had put an additional lock on the closed door of the Bar office during the bandh yesterday when two caretakers holding keys remained absent yesterday. The members opposing the bandh put an additional lock on the closed doors, he added.
The BBA office remains under control of Trinamool Congress supporters.
